Casa Sombrilla is a private residence located on 11.5 acres near Taos, New Mexico.  The project includes a main house with garage & shop plus a guest house.  Site work is minimized to an entry drive and entry courtyard partially enclosed by each building component.  The south facing site enhances the project's emphasis on passive and active solar design features.  Moveable roofs along the south face of the main house provide shade for the outdoor room during the summer, and total flexibility for the client to adjust the direct sunlight that enters the south facing windows during the spring, fall, and winter.
